Smecta is not absorbed. It is eliminated through the faeces.
– Symptomatic treatment of irritable Bowel Syndrome in adults and
gastroesophageal reflux in infant due to mucoprotective effects.
– Treatment of acute and chronic diarrhoea.
As the adsorbent properties of this product may interfere with the rates
and/or levels of absorption of other substances, it is recommended not
to administer any other drug at the same time as Smecta.
Very rare cases of development or aggravation of constipation have
been reported; treatment may be continued after decreasing the
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
In children: – under the age of 1 year: 1 sachet per day
– from 1 to 2 years: 1 to 2 sachets per day
– over the age of 2 years: 2 to 3 sachets per day
To be administered in 2-3 divided doses.
The contents of the sachet can be mixed in a bottle with 50 ml of water
or with a semi-liquid: broth, stewed fruit, mashed vegetables, baby
In adults: An average of 3 sachets in 2-3 divided doses per day mixed in
half a glass of water.
In acute diarrhoea, the daily dosage can be doubled at the beginning
Administer preferably: – after meals in oesophagitis
– in between meals in other indications
Smecta is not a rehydration therapy. The treatment does not dispense
with rehydration, should this prove to be necessary.
STORAGE CONDITIONS AND SHELF LIFE
To be stored in a dry place, below 25°C.
Do not exceed the expiry date plainly indicated on the packaging.
Keep out of reach of children.
